For fuel giant BP, EMG decided to take a less corporate, more creative approach in designing their extensive internal and external communications. At the time, BP had just acquired Standard Oil, and was making fresh advances in the US market. The majority of their communications were directed at BP employees, other business owners, and potential investors. After some market research, we found that typically, internal and external reports and communications from such Fortune 500 companies were drab in design and hard to absorb. For BP, we enlisted the help of renowned illustrators, copywriters, and photographers to fill each communication with information that was as digestible as it was pleasant to view. Each cover represented BP’s continued growth in market share, cultural strides, technological breakthroughs and corporate achievements. The materials we produced were a wide-reaching success; BP was able to set itself apart from the competition and tackle previously unchartered US territory with great success.
